Poetry/Cut-Up Technique

Immediately following the discussion, I mentioned to Daniel an interest in whether the use of cut-up technique – as made famous by its use by William Burroughs to compose some of his works – was appropriate to the course’s goals and methods. Later the same night whilst on Facebook a friend put up a status update encouraging people to “flood Facebook with poetry. Someone assigns you a poet, you post a poem by that poet, and if people like your post, you assign poets to them”. Being the studious little social networker that I am, I acquiesced – to little immediate response admittedly.

But the discussion of poetry, and the still-fresh-in my mind discussion of cut-up, makes me think this would be an interesting avenue for the generation of material. Bears further consideration.
