First meeting tonight, covered the basic topics we’ll be tackling in this module, it’s nice to be working with someone with such freedom and potential for creative expansion and even self discovery.
Our site is the on campus Library, it’s pretty expansive and never-ending as far as libraries go, the architecture is very interesting and the whole building has a very warm atmosphere, and having spent a lot of time there in the twee hours of the early morning, it has a somewhat comforting vibe, it’s very conductive to a learning environment. I can never write essays at home, there’s too many distractions and methods of procrastination, but the library is for one main purpose, so you immediately feel more productive for being there.
I’ve had a few brief ideas at this initial stage, and I think I’d like to work on a solo project, but it’s still early days. I’m feeling that the general theme I want to work with would be self discovery, or self expression, and how others tackle this and feel about it, how comfortable other people are with themselves. I’d like to ideally get photography involved in this and over the course of a few days build up a portfolio to exhibit as an installation at the end of the performance deadline.
Looking forward to this project and can’t wait to discuss this more in depth with my tutor and get some feedback on some of my ideas.
